What's new in WhatsApp Surveys 1.0: delivery you can actually see

When a survey goes out over WhatsApp, two questions matter more than anything else: did it arrive, and if not, why not? Version 1.0 of WhatsApp Surveys is built around answering both at a glance. Here is everything that shipped.

A delivery funnel for every campaign

Your Messages page now shows the full journey of every survey send: queued, sent, delivered, read, failed. The numbers come straight from the provider, not from a capped on-screen list, so the funnel you see is the funnel that actually happened. Failed sends get a retry button right next to the count, scoped per survey, so recovering a stumble is one tap instead of a support ticket.

Failure reasons in plain language

A red FAILED pill with nothing behind it used to mean opening the provider console and hunting for an error code. Now the reason sits on the row itself: whether Meta declined a marketing-category message, a session window expired, or a merge field was missing, you read it where you already are. Bare error codes still show when no explanation exists, because a code you can look up beats silence.

Statuses that keep themselves honest

Delivery receipts sometimes go missing in transit, and a send that says SUBMITTED forever is a small lie. WhatsApp Surveys now re-checks in-flight sends against the provider on a background sweep, so stuck statuses settle themselves into delivered, read, or failed with a reason, without anyone refreshing a console.

A send log you can keep clean

Old test sends and long-fixed failures used to sit in the send log forever, dragging every percentage down. Every row now has an Archive action. Archiving is housekeeping, not deletion: the row leaves the list, the delivery funnel, and the retry selection together, so your numbers keep describing the same set of messages, and a separate Archived view lets you restore anything you put away.

Meta's real category, everywhere it matters

We wrote recently about how Meta can silently re-file a Utility survey as Marketing and quietly stop delivering it. Version 1.0 closes that loop in the product: surveys submit with the Utility category pinned, every survey shows the category Meta actually approved, and a clear warning appears the moment the approved category differs from what you requested. Every template card in the marketplace now wears its classification, the library can be filtered to Utility-only or Marketing-only, and the editor itself shows Meta's final verdict right next to the category you chose. The template library was rebuilt around the same rule, with hundreds of templates reworded to be genuinely transaction-anchored so they qualify as Utility instead of hoping to pass as it.

Always know your sending number

The top bar now shows the exact WhatsApp number your workspace sends from, and whether it is a shared platform number or one dedicated to you. When a customer asks which number their survey came from, the answer is on screen.

Release notes and support, inside the app

Settings has a new About tab with the running release notes, starting with this 1.0, and a Help and support section with direct lines for questions, feedback, and bug reports. No more guessing where to ask.

What's next

Provider choice keeps widening: bring-your-own provider accounts are expanding beyond Twilio, with Vonage support landing next. If you want early access to any of it, request an invite and we'll get you set up.
